We were happy to saw smiling faces at the end of competition. We have got a lot of promises that most of pilots will come back next year again. We are looking forward to see our friends again. SEE YOU during 6th PRIBINA CUP 2006 (from 14th to 23rd April 2006).

02/04/2005 - There is almost no change in weather conditions today comparing to yesterday. There was again -1 degree Celsius in the morning here. The weather looks the same as days before. Because of the final party starting at 19:00 we have decided to use Speed tasks via Assigned Areas for all classes today. You can see the courses via Tasks menu
Unfortunately our current leader in the club class Axel Reich from GER had to leave today morning because of family duties. It is a pity but we will see him again during European Gliding Championships. First launch is expected to be at 11:30.
We have postponed first launch until 12:00. Then we have started launching. There were two relights needed because the thermals were only small during first take offs. Now all gliders are in the air and start lines are open.
The condition seem to be difficult. Air mass is more stabile than days before and thermals are only in blue and more turbulent. Anyway most of the pilots have managed to be back home. The results are already runnig via Results page
Final party will start at 19:00 followed by Prize Giving Ceremony at 20:00.
Outlandings today: MT (airport Prievidza); LSJ,AR (back to Nitra); YX (Dubové); C1 (Trenčín); 84 (Oslany); R (Levice); M8 (Zbehy).

01/04/2005 - The coldest morning of the competition. There was -2 degrees Celsius in the morning here. No change of air mass comparing to yesterday, but we expect higher temperature during afternoon. The weather looks good from early morning and we have decided to use Racing tasks for all classes again. Please see the courses via Tasks menu
We have pleasure to invite one more actual world champion in gliding here (except of Sebastian Kawa flying club class here). Wolfgang Janowitsch came here for a few days to train a little for EGC.
First launch is expected to be at 11:30. We have postponed the first launch until 12:00.
It was a mistake since just after we have decided the first thermal have started. We started at 12:00 finally. There were already some FEW CU already on the sky. Wind is from E (cross wind for take off), but gliders had no significant problems during take offs. The start lines have been opened and last class left for task at 13:04 local time.
We have some pilot's reports. According to them the climbs are up to 3m/s with top of thermals up to maximum allowed altitude which is 8000ft today. There are still FEW Cu east and south east of the field.
Now we have more than 3/4 gliders back home which have completed their tasks.
More information is in Results page
Outlanding today: TL (Kisbér in Hungary); CL (here in Nitra); C1,99 (Paňa); BC(?); M8 (Vráble); JS,N3,ET(Šahy); XXL (Ipeľský Sokolec); AR (Komjatice);

31/03/2005 - Again clear sky , with nice visibility, better than yesterday. There was -1 degree Celsius in the morning here. It means the High pressure from N has came to our area with fresh but dry air mass. The weather looks fine for setting the tasks and we have decided to set Racing tasks for all classes. Please see the courses via Tasks menu. First launch is expected to be at 11:30. Take off time has been postponed to 12:00.
Finally we started tows at 12:15 and there were already moderate thermals, but only in blue. Later some CU developed here. All gliders are in the air now and start lines are open.
After some time CU disappeared. According to reports later there have been only blue thermals 1 to 2m/s strong with tops up to 1700m. We have been waiting carefully if some pilots will come home. After some time first gliders of std/15m class appeared on the final followed by club class gliders later. After some time there have been more than half pilots back home. We have been looking for open class ships. Some of them have came afterwards with or without engine. The only real outlanding today have been YX who landed some 15 to 20 km short of the field. More is in
via Results page. We can be happy now since the 5th Pribina Cup 2005 will be again valid competition with minimum 4 valid days. Sure we hope for some good weather tomorrow or day after tomorrow.

30/03/2005 - Sky clear, but the visibility is not excellent. The weather looks fine for setting the tasks. We have set Racing tasks for all classes again. Please see the courses via Tasks menu. The clouds in south have forced us to send pilots to the mountains and we hope the spring with some thermals is already there. First launch is expected to be at 12 o'clock.
All gliders are airborne now. There are some CU around with bases up to 1200m AGL. According to report from Slovak Airlines crew (flying with Fokker 100)that there are nice clouds in the area pilots are going to fly. We will see if they will have some troubles there.
The previous statement was not correct. The clouds ended in Prievidza area and there was only clear sky to the N. More to this there was strong N wind also. Too cold for flying there. Results are available via Results page.

Outlandings today: in Zabokreky (C1,LF); in Martin airfield (AX,JS,L4,N3,X4,12,XT,ET); in Dolna Stubna airfield (AR,TL); in Blatnica (MT); in Tuzina (99i); 18km S of Martin (84); in Klastor pod Znievom (BC,XXL); in Parnica (C4); somewhere with engine (SK,PB,SA)

29/03/2005 - Nice morning again. The weather looks even better than yesterday. We have set Racing tasks for all classes at 10 o'clock briefing. You can see the courses via Tasks menu. First launch is expected to be at 12 o'clock. Just now all gliders are in the air. There was no need for relight today. The clouds are not so high as expected but according to pilot's reports the top of thermals is about 1200m AGL at his time (13:15 local). Reported climbs were up to 2m/s. Start lines have been open at 12:57 for club class, at 12:49 for standard/15m class and at 13:07 for open class. We will see how pilots will manage the weather today. (14:15) We have some reports that club class gliders are already at the first turn point with nice FEW CU around.
Surprisingly, most of the pilots have made it home. Surprise for us, because the weather in the vicinity of Nitra was looking not so good as it has been more to E and N. The cloud bases have been up to 1500m AGL with climbs occasionally up to 3m/s. In some areas the re were only blue thermals with less climb rates, but the conditions were soar able. The last pilots landed around 18:00 in the evening so it means, some of them have flown almost 6 hours today. Not too bad for second or third flight in this season. For task standings please see the Results page.
For tomorrow we expect more blue thermals than today, but we will see more in the morning...
Outlandings today : TL, AR, JS, 99, BC, R, XT, CL, 99i, TL, XU, LOT, XXL.

28/03/2005 - We woke up to nice morning. The weather have been significantly better than yesterday. With little hurry we have not missed the 10 o'clock briefing. We have set Speed tasks via Assigned Areas for all classes with minimum task time 2,5 hours. You can see the courses using Tasks menu. We hope it will be not a big problem for pilots to complete the task and come back to home base. At this time the weather looks nice with a lot of CUs south and east of the airfield. All classes have been lifted within 45 minutes using two Turbo Čmelák, one Čmelák and two Zlín 142. The gate for Open class was opened at 13:06, for Club class at 13:20 and for Std/15m class at 13:37. We will come to you later with some more news. In the mean time you can look at some other pictures from training available at our friends web page www.freefly.sk. You can see them here or via Photos Menu
During the day wind has increased so when we have heard first calls on finish the gusts were already up to 12m/s. We were lucky it was in line with runway in use. There were good conditions up to Prievidza area, but blue with little thermals west from there according pilots reports. Best climbs up to 4m/s with tops up to 1750m. Others have reported out spreading with showers in Hungary. Most of them told us that the task were quite accurate with regards to weather so we are happy. Few pilots ahve not managed to come home today so here is the list of today's outlandings: C1, 84, CL, MT, CEO, N3, LOT, AR, XXL, LSJ, VL.
Preliminary result are already available. Please visit Results page. We now hope for good weather for tomorrow. We will see in the morning...

27/03/2005 - Due to bad weather forecast we have decided to cancel a day already at the first briefing at 10 o'clock. There will be some chance to fly locally in the later afternoon, but the interval and conditions should not be suitable for setting a tasks. We hope for weather improvement during following days. There are already some pictures available on the web pages of our young pilots, but unfortunately only with Slovak comments.. Here is the link.
During the late afternoon weather improved a little so some pilots were able to make a short flights to test their equipment after long winter. We have been informed that the cloud base was at about 500m AGL and the tows above the clouds were impressive.

26/03/2005 - The first day of the contest period. We have had first briefing at 9 o'clock. There the contest have been opened. After that we have had a minute of silence in memory of our friend Stefan Zemmel, who had died in air accident during the German National Team training in Southern France. Stefan has been an excellent pilot and also one of the previous winners of Pribina Cup (club class in 2003). In addition to that Stefan had a very good character. Mainly due this he have had a lot of friends here in Nitra and we are sure that also all around the world.
The weather
forecast for today was not optimistic. Cold front has passed our airfield in the morning with a lot of rain. Our expectations were that this rain area will move more further to the NE and we would be able to use the air mass behind with only little clouds there. For this reason we have postponed the decision to next briefing at 12 o'clock. Unfortunately our prediction was not right and at the second briefing we have been forced to cancel the day. Than some pilots and crews have gone for sightseeing or bathing. The forecast for tomorrow is not very optimistic, but we will see in the morning ...

25/03/2005 - 43 pilots has registered for Pribina Cup 2005. You can see the list using Pilots Menu. We are happy to see our friends again. There have been several training flights last three days including today.
